F**k it, let's start at 30

What the heck…

Instead of “January was a trial month, February is where the changes will actually happen”

Or “20xx was a trial year, 20xx+1 is where I’m gonna shine!”

How about “my 20s is just a trial decade, my 30s is where I’m gonna figure it out”

I’m sick of going “I need to figure this out, this year” when I turn 21 all the way to 29.

I mean… I think I did well in my 20s if I’m looking from the “anti-goal” perspective, like “I didn’t die of drug overdose” kinda thing.

But, I feel like you can relate when I think “I can do more, better in my 20s. At least I can figure something out by the time I turn 25.”

Either it’s finally having my own business, or a music project, anything close to an immortality project (I didn’t read that link, just so we have a general understanding of what the term meant).

So, when I turn 29, I decided to stop my spaceship going on warp speed and took a stop at a galactic gas station to pour myself some coffee and light a cigarette.

And as I turn 30 today, I think to myself: “Let’s run this decade like I run my 20s, but.. you know… with making wiser life choices”

My 30s will be like my 20s, but… you know…:

  • I’m a married man now, so obviously no more sleeping around like some kind of a dead bachelor.
  • Still going to parties, but… you know… going down a notch or two.
  • Learning new things, emptying my glass frequently… but… you know… I have a job so gotta ration my time.
  • Still playing and recording music… but… you know… again with the job.
  • Having fun with my friends… but… you know… some are married with kids… some are now abroad… keep expectations low.

So, to my fellow people who turned 30+, happy birthday. Let’s treat it like the previous decade… but… you know… be a bit wiser.
